Cassiobury Park Firework Display 2009 [HD]

This was on the Saturday after Guy Fawkes Night at Cassiobury Park, in Watford, Hertfordshire, England. I’ve had to split it into 2 videos due to YouTube’s ~10-minute video duration limit. Please excuse the couple of times when the focus was lost, which was actually when I was trying to improve the focus. I’m especially glad with how the sound came out, except at the point when my camcorder split the recording to a second file, and when 2 noisy people suddenly appeared next to my left ear (both of these things happened in the second YouTube video).

Abunai! 2009

I’ve been lucky enough to be able to travel to the Netherlands to attend Abunai, a convention to do with anime, manga and other Japanese stuff. The con lasted 3 days (Friday to Sunday), and we had to camp at a nearby place and travel between there and the convention site each day, using bikes we’d rented from the camp site.

So… for now, photos! Click any photo to see the full-size version. Here are a few which I took…

(If you’re wondering about the broken battery case photo, click it to load the full page at PhotoBucket and read the description…)

…and here are a lot more which a friend of mine took (including a few of mine, since he wanted to fill up his PhotoBucket account):

Touhou + Vocaloid cosplayers at MCM Expo

MCM Expo in London was held last Saturday and Sunday, and, quite awesomely, there was a group of people cosplaying as characters from Touhou Project! Here’s a bunch of pictures I took (some are screencaps from videos I recorded, so they generally don’t look as good). Please click an image to see a larger version of it.

In particular, the Suwako one is bad because that’s from the only video I ever got of her, from a distance while waiting in the ticket queue.

After seeing a box of doujinshi dedicated to the game series last October, but then not seeing a single piece of Touhou merchandise this May, I was disappointed, but these people more than made up for that. The group consisted of 3 guys cosplaying as Eirin, Yuyuko and Marisa, and 2 girls cosplaying as Sakuya and Iku (one of them was being Reimu on Saturday). There were also 2 other girls doing Suwako and Marisa, but they didn’t appear to be part of the group.

I may well upload some HD videos to YouTube, since videos just seem more realistic to me than photos, and I mentioned doing so on the Touhou Group thread on the MCM forum and no-one seems to be objecting to me doing so. However, that involves me not being lazy (at least cutting and joining the video files), so it will take me a while to do.

Oh, there were some cute Mikus too, which was cool to me, given that I’m pretty fond of her too.

[AAA] StepMania: Kuru Kuru Lovely Day [HD]

I hadn’t uploaded a new StepMania video in quite a long time, and I surprised myself at being able to AAA this, so I decided to record myself trying to do it again. After about 6 more frustrating attempts, I finally managed. Unfortunately, people were trying to sleep at the time I was recording, so I had to keep fairly quiet (apart from the unavoidable tapping sounds, of course…). This also meant I had to play on headphones, so I mixed the song’s audio in afterwards (although I normally do that anyway).

Note that the theme I’m using, CyberiaStyle 4, shows
“A-” for “A”,
“A+” for “AA”,
“AA” for “AAA” and
“AAA” for “AAAA”.
You can see more info about this theme (for SM 3.9), and download it, from the author’s site, here.

This song is actually from the opening of an H-game called 「魔界天使ジブリール3」 (Makai Tenshi Jiburiiru 3). In this video, I play it as part of the “Otaku’s Dream 2nd Hentai Mix” song pack. You can find out more info about tha pack, and find download links for it, here.

Yuyuko-sama eats lightning

…is the conclusion which I came to when having a strange chat about power cuts, with my friend “Sota-sama”, on MSN tonight. So I drew this with my graphics tablet in the MSN convo. (2 days ago, I got my tablet working better than it ever has done before. This lame attempt really doesn’t show it off well, though.)

(Click to see it at original size)

Here’s a coloured version at 4x the original’s size, but it looks worse IMO (due to the colour).

<BoringLengthyDescription> I had a momentary power “cut” (weakening, so my comp didn’t crash), and my friend said it might be a sign from Yuyuko (he’s said this before, it’s a kind of meme we’ve developed - usually followed by “be careful”). Then, a while later, a storm arrived where he lives, and the lightning was messing with his power. Through a strange chain of messages we decided that Yuyuko was eating the power, and the lightning was just a natural progression from there on.

Later on, we nearly decided that she was also fond of WLAN signals, but that was just getting silly. </BoringLengthyDescription>

Here are just a few of the scary points (I’m sure you can make up more):

- Her hands.

- Her hat (what exactly is going on?? Especially on coloured version).

- Her eyes. o_o

- The reverse-view of her head which looks like a lampshade.

The related part of the original MSN convo follows… (Please, if you value your free time, just move along…)

Bleeper Music Maker (revision 131) + Remi Piano Solo

MIDI OUT!! … … is the main new feature added in this version. Instead of (or as well as) using the PC speaker, it can send all notes and beeps to a MIDI device which you choose (it doesn’t have to be external, it can even be that nasty-sounding synth Windows XP and Vista use by default). More info in Info.txt under “MIDI OUTPUT MOD”

To show off the new Midi Output mod, here’s a short video of a little BMM file I made, playing through my Yamaha keyboard via MIDI Out, complete with accidental footage of a bug with the Synchronized Play mod, which makes it randomly decide start playing 2 minutes after you last started it playing. By the way, that bug is now fixed.

Usual program download link. The download now includes the BMM file you see playing in the video, too (”Remi Solo.BMM”).

Hmm, previously Sakuya, then Remilia… Flandre is next. =D

【東方】【らぶデス2】 Aya Shameimaru Greenscreen Effects

I could just dream, but I could also video-edit. ;P

I found a character mod of Aya Shameimaru (although I haven’t got her wings’ texture to load right yet - they should be nice and feathery and semitransparent) for TeaTime’s らぶデス2, and fiddled around with the textures of the room to get them a nice green.

I tried my hand at doing an effect similar to the first video I ever uploaded at YouTube (it still exists if you want to check it out). After that, I tried to get a little more advanced, but… well, it’s okay, but there were a few annoying lines which didn’t go transparent, among other things. <<

Want to know what programs I used? What the music is? It’s all in the video. Except for what camcorder I used, which I forgot to mention, which is a Sony DCR-TRV270E. (Yes… very interesting, I know.)

If there is interest, I will provide a link to the high-quality 640×480 AVI which is 20.9 MB.

EDIT: I just uploaded it to NicoVideo, so you can watch it there instead if you prefer: sm3086872.

The most uninteresting post so far

It seems a very few people at YouTube don’t realise that the “me” at YouTube (SomethingUnreal) is the same as the “me” as I am in most other places (Robbi-985). So I’m making a post here in an attempt to ‘prove’ that in fact, I am myself, and the site which the “imposter” SomethingUnreal links to really is owned by him, since he is Robbi-985. I say it again (I’ve said it many times before) - I used the name SomethingUnreal because I needed a temporary disguise at the time I created the account. However, now I’m getting to prefer it to Robbi-985. Also, ‘unreal’ can be spelt in Japanese as 幻想的 (gensouteki), which is nicely similar to 幻想郷 (Gensoukyou).

Sorry to anyone actually expecting some content (although you should know better by now :P). Let me try to make it up to you. I know it isn’t much, but…

Touhou Characters in GTA:SA (Screenshots)

Since I haven’t posted something for a while. I took these during gameplay and thought they looked pretty cool, so I decided to share them. =)

One day, hopefully not too far from now, I’ll get around to making another Touhou GTA video. ^^

Touhou Project Sig Picture

I’ve made a new signature - a Touhou Project one - for a forum which I hang around on (AnimeNuke). There’s something fairly rare about it, considering I made it - no cuteness, just an attempt of showing off the Touhou games’ awesomeness. That’s by no means saying that the Touhou girls aren’t cute, it’s saying that I haven’t actually used them, and it’s even rarer that I’d choose not to use that.

Touhou Project sig

I was trying to make one with a really insanely hot/active feel to it. There’s not much more intense/fast-paced than the Touhou games, so I tried to recreate that feeling… and yes, I used 2 screenshots from one of the games (Imperishable Night). I tried to blur the “東方″ into both of the attack formations.
